Ice cream, sun, designer shops, culture and - PIZZA! Rome was the ideal destination for me so in August this year I decided to pack my bags and jet of to the famous city of Rome.
I landed early afternoon with my mum clinging to my arm panicking about pickpockets while I desperately tried to shift her along the platform to catch our train, we got to our hotel, ditched the bags and headed to the Vatican. This place ended up to be amazing, the pillars were like something out of hercules (You know- the disney ones where he crashes into them and they all fall? Exactly like that!) we must've sat in the square for a few hours just admiring it, I was in love already.
The next day we activated our Omnia card which allowed us on bus tours, into sites for free and allowed us to see the city.
Well we done exactly what any tourist would do - hopped on our open top bus tour with our headphones and looked like over excited children at any building that may be that famous building, you know the one?
To cut things short the next few days were filled with culture, pizza, pasta, wine and lots and lots of photos.
We started off with the Colosseum which was as expected it was huge, it was amazing but suprisingly filled with selfie sticks. It was amazing to see and involved a lot of guesswork as to what the ruins used to be.
Then we went inside the Vatican, the gardens were beautiful and the building was just purely amazing, we then headed to the sistine chapel which was just breath taking both buildings were so rich in culture and just beautiful.
We done some more sight seeing with some amazing views and photos captured throughout (Look at the gallery at the end to see them all. Sadly our last day was coming near, and who would've thought that the last day would be the best?
On our last day we headed to the Villa Borghese park where we spent hours, first we were seeing the park by foot when some people on segways went past, slowly we realised that Segway was definantly the was to see the park. After 30 minuets of hunting we found them and let me tell you we were not dissapointed. the park was beautiful and the Segways made for great fun and a great story (especially when one ran out of battery and the people infront fell straight on their faces).
We headed home all to soon but Rome is definantly on my list to go back to.
